Established in 1997, Calypso Flowers has a well-deserved reputation for distinctive and natural floral arrangements, using quality flowers, foliage and accompaniments. The Calypso style has a distinct European sensibility, which is carried through to the use of colours and designs, which in turn reflect the seasons.
Owner Denise Patience recently moved the business to Abbotsford, just 5 km from the Melbourne CBD, where it is situated in a creative studio set-up rather than a main street location. This was partly to create more time to spend actually working with flowers, and partly because there is no other florist actually IN Abbotsford. Flowers can still be delivered throughout Melbourne ... in fact, everywhere !
The business owes its name to the demi-goddess in Homer's THE ODYSSEY. Calypso, daughter of Atlas, lived on an island, in a cave which was sheltered by fragrant trees, covered in luscious grape vines, and surrounded by meadows of irises.
